Dr Katya Burova, consultant dermatologist, skin cancer lead for Bedford Hospital
Dr Ekaterina (Katya) P Burova trained in Moscow, Russia at the First Moscow Medical School, Sechenov, graduating with the Russian equivalent of the MBBS qualification. Dr Burova started to do research in dermatology during her student years and in her last year of medical school won the silver medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR.
Dr Burova went on to undertake specialist training in dermatology and venereology in Moscow, later obtaining her a PhD in medicine. She was an honorary lecturer and later a visiting professor at the bio-engineering department of Strathclyde University, Glasgow. She was awarded FRCP(London) in 2006.
Dr Burova has been practicing as a dermatologist in the UK for more than 15 years. She set up, leads and chairs a now well established, multi-disciplinary skin cancer team at Bedford Hospital. In addition, Dr Burova also sits on the editorial board for MIMs Dermatology. MIMs Dermatology is a UK journal which is sent to 10,000 GPs in the UK. Dr Burova is also a member of the editorial board of the Russian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology. Dr Burova will speaking at the World Congress of Dermatology in May 2011.
She is the first Russian doctor to be certified as a Consultant Dermatologist in the UK, as well as the only Russian speaking dermatologist in London and surrounding areas.
Dr Burova is able to offer patients exceptional care, her special interests being skin cancer, skin surgery, paediatric dermatology, allergies and more.
